How easy is it for me to give MRSA to my pet?

I am a carrier of MRSA. Can I carry this to my pet and does this mean that I should not have close contact with my pet like kissing and face licking?

It is certainly be possible that you could spread MRSA to your pet and lead to it becoming colonised, although it is not yet known how often this happens or what makes it more or less likely. If your pet is healthy, colonisation is a minimal risk to its health, but you should also remember that, even aside from MRSA, kissing pets is not recommended.
