This was an awesome event! I am sorry that more people did not find out about it in time for them to make it, as it was absolutely fascinating! Kim Bloomer, from Aspenbloom Pet Care, hosted this conference with Jill Moss from the UK, who has been in the news a good bit lately as the “mom” of Bella, the first dog known to fall victim to MRSA.
Bella (a gorgeous Samoyed) had a fairly common surgery after tearing a ligament in her knee chasing a squirrel. About 3 weeks later, she was not recovering well, and was found to have MRSA in her wound. Bella and Jill’s story is such a sad one, and is one that we, dealing with MRSA in our human lives, are all too familiar with.
During this conference, Jill gave basic information about MRSA, and the problems that she has run across, and you just wouldn’t believe how similar they are to the problems that we, as humans, have.
