Our veterinary microbiology research at the University of Lincoln is focussed on the potential uses of anti-microbial compounds. As a result their effectiveness on Staphylococcus aureus (including MRSA) is also investigated. Though mainly a human health problem, MRSA has the potential to infect our pets. As a result research is ongoing in how to minimise the risk of transfer of MRSA into veterinary medicine.
