The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is warning customers that several companies are making unproven claims that their products will prevent methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus infections. MRSA does not respond to standard antibiotic treatment and can be deadly. Makers of some hand sanitizers and other products are boasting that the products kill MRSA bacteria. “Don’t believe them,” says a warning recently released by the FDA.
