Hospital wards could close after details of cases of MRSA and C.difficile are published, Health Secretary Andrew Lansley warned yesterday. Up until now NHS bosses have only had to give rates of infection for an entire trust of up to three hospitals. The Government now wants details of infections by both bacteria - linked to thousands of deaths - for each ward, each week.
