Jim fixes it for superbug study

Link: BBC NEWS

Veteran disc jockey Sir Jimmy Saville has "fixed it" for researchers trying to combat the hospital bug MRSA. Sir Jimmy has donated £40,000 to the team from the University of Manchester who are investigating how aromatherapy can kill the deadly bacteria. They claim three essential oils can kill MRSA as well as the E.coli bug, but money is needed for trials. Sir Jimmy made the donation after reading about the possible breakthrough on the BBC News website.

I have been researching on MRSA and essential ols since 1997 and at first suffered the same problems..I couldnt get any funds. I have shown the same findings and their are a number of blends that will kill MRSA in addition to other multiple drug resistant strains of bacteria. With my industrial partner, Micap PLC, I have received funds from the Hospital infection Society and the Government (Dept Trade and Industry) to develop the technology for use in the Healthcare Environment. We have a clinical trial underway at the Burns Unit, Manchester and have already developed prototype dressings and creams for treatment use. Their research is not new but has highlighted well, the problems faced with applied research, when many of the Research Councils will not fund innovative zapplications and hope industry (or benefactors) will pick up the bill!! Sir Jimmy Saville has been very generous.
